Exploring the Grenville Project
I had a fun time exploring the Greville team project. In comparison to Neatline, StoryMap seems to provide more possibilities and options to be creative with the format. I liked how the points on the map were all interconnected to each other. As well as this, I think it's nice to have different options to view information on the map. For instance, I could click on a location on the map and access the information I wanted or I could click through the side arrows to see the information in a more chronological format. In terms of the actual project itself, I appreciated all the images that the team provided. I think this made the information seem more realistic, humane, and accessible. I found the Melbourne study to be fascinating. It was enlightening to see how the lifestyles of aboriginal children differed depending on whether they were raised with their culture or in a colonizing boarding school. It's tragic to see the outcome of the study; aboriginal children who went to boarding schools were less likely to have ties to their culture and stable living conditions.
Hi Catalina, I agree that StoryMap is an intriguing platform. I found it to be slightly glitchy, but for our Equiano project we will need a solid mapping platform. However, a timeline and map together would be ideal for this book and I am not sure StoryMap offers that.
